What is the Workforce Recovery Initiative Programme?

The Workforce Recovery Initiative is a program designed by Coursera to support governments in helping impacted workers and unemployed citizens to reskill and up-skill to regain employment, by providing them with free access to 3,800 online courses. The Republic of Somaliland and Coursera has signed a partnership agreement to implement this.

Who is eligible to register for this Programme?

University students, young professionals, or anyone looking to gain industry-ready skills.

If I am a Somalilander living outside of the country, am I eligible to register for this program?

Any Somalilander is eligible to register for any of the free 3,800 courses being offered under the Workforce Recovery Initiative Programme.

How long do I have to complete my course(s)?

Upon successful registration, you have six months to complete all registered courses (July 2020 to December 31st, 2020)

Is there a limit to the number of courses I can register for?

There is no limit to the number of courses you can register for! You can take as many courses as you’d like but remember you have until December 31st, 2020 to complete all courses.

Can I redo a module?

Yes, you can redo a module (check course content for more information).

When is the registration deadline?

The deadline for registration is September 30th, 2020

What if I already have an existing account with Coursera?

You can choose to register for your courses with your existing account or choose to create a new one under the Workforce Recovery Initiative Programme.

Will I be awarded a certificate for every course(s) I complete?

Upon successful completion, of course, Coursera with the education partner for the course will issue a course completion certificate.

Will I have to pay to get my certificates?

You will be awarded your certificates for FREE! There is no cost attached to this.

Can I pursue a Master’s degree under the Workforce Recovery Initiative?

Full degree programs are not part of the Workforce Recovery Initiative.
